Yesterday we had our first and last playoff game. We left Brevard at 9:30 on Friday towards Raleigh, North Carolina. The trip was not the longest one, but one nice fact is that we stopped in a soccer complex to practice, since our game would be just Saturday. We arrived at the Soccer Complex at 2 pm, where we played against ourselves and tried some penalty kicks. After that, we went to a very nice hotel in Raleigh. I divided my bedroom with Adan. We went to have dinner in a buffet, the food was very good too! One of the bests I have tried here in the US. On Saturday, we woke up and had breakfast. After that, we went directly to the game. Unfortunately, we lost in the first half of the overtime. It was not the result that we were expecting, but even the best team in the world cannot win all matches.

The photo below was taken at the Soccer Complex. BC Men's soccer family!

How I said here before, I work in the cafeteria. Usually, I work only in the cafeteria on the lines, making pizzas, or at late night. However, during the Fall Break, we had a different job to do. We had to organize a lunch for the president and his wife. It was very nice, I worked as a server and I met some nice people there. Other people were working with me, it was: Mario, Marcos, Igor, Sarj, Talita, and other guys from the kitchen. The food was very good. II ate meat, risotto, shrimp, and crab! I hope we have another gathering like this. It was very nice!
Every time that I work in a gathering like this, I learn something new, and with this one, it was not different. I attached some photos to show how big the place was.

Post #6 New friends in America

I have been here in the US for two months. At this time I made a lot of new friends. I will talk about them here. I put a photo below showing one of the days that we went to celebrate Gar's birthday. However, it was not all my friends that could attend this event. The majority of them are Brazilian because my English is not so good. However, I made some new good friends that do not speak Portuguese like Noah, Francesco, Sam, Tino, Inigo, Dillon, Rocco, and other guys from the soccer team.

I am still learning a lot of words here and how the American culture is so different! For me, the hardest part is the slang. Sometimes they speak so fast and with a lot of slang that I cannot understand everything. I can speak a little bit of Spanish. However, for me is easier to talk in English.

I liked this photo because it was a nice day with my new friends!

This Saturday, I played my first conference game. It was an away game in Berea, Kentucky. The game was against Berea College, an NCAA Division III college. The trip was long; we left Brevard at 8:30 in the morning. We stopped at Fazolli's to have lunch, and after that, we went directly to the college. We arrived there at 3 pm; our game was just 4 pm.

We had a difficult first half, scoring just one goal. However, in the second half, we could put together some pieces and finish with a good score. We won by 5 x 1.

This game was memorable for me. It was the first conference game that I played. I have played some other games, but not a conference one. Bellow, I have a photo of myself and Joao entering the field. I played in my position as a center midfielder and Joao as a right-back (I am the number 21 and he is the number 7). We almost scored another goal at the end. However, one guy on our team was in the ground and made the ball go out.

This Saturday I intended to pay my rent downtown, and when I got there I saw a lot of people and some really nice cars. At first, I did not understand what was going on, but later I do realize that they have organized a meeting there, and the nice thing was that they are showing their cars on the street! I saw a lot of different kinds of cars, and I love cars like Porsche. Down bellow, I put some images that I took. I saw different types of cars, big cars like Porsche Macan, old cars like Porsche 964, and sports cars like Porsche 911 S. I like Porsche and Ferrari, but if I could choose one of those I would like to have a Porsche Panamera S. In Brazil I never saw cars like this, it is very difficult to buy this kind of car in Brazil, so when I saw these cars here I found it amazing!
